Microsoft is planning to make some huge changes with its Windows 8 operating system. The interesting thing is that it includes logo too. Pentagram, a renowned design agency, created the new design for Windows. Few remember the original Windows logo which was simple, refreshing and inspiring. In many ways, the Windows 8 logo resembles that of the original one.
Some people might say, "Why is Microsoft trying to go backwards?". Well, may be Paula Scher from Pentagram is the reason behind that. She asked a simple question, "Your name is Windows. Why are you a flag?
So, was it really Paula Scher who was the impetus behind Microsoft's decision? Well, not exactly! In some ways you can track the evolution of the Windows logo in respect to the advancements of the technology used to create logos. The incarnation of the "waving effect" was a move by Microsoft to give the logo a sense of motion. The new four-panned window you see above not only looks more like a window than its predecessors but also portrays company's new Metro design language. So, what does it foretells about the upcoming version of Windows? Only one thing, that it will be a treat to watch and use.
